We build community through a business lens.

Our Mission is to represent and support the needs of the Pictou County business community through leadership, innovation and advocacy. In doing so for nearly 40 years, the Chamber plays a leadership role as a community wide collaborator, advocate, partner and connector in economic development.

Our members represent all sectors of the economy and include local government and non-profits. Our reach is broad and our impact is focused.

Meet our Executive Director, Jack Kyte
Jack Kyte is a graduate of Acadia University and the University of Western Ontario and spent 35 years in senior management in Nova Scotia’s pulp and paper industry.He is the former Executive Director of the Pictou Regional Development Agency and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Efficiency Nova Scotia. He has served on the Atlantic Regional Board of the Nature Conservancy of Canada, the Pictou County Environmental Protection Project and the Aberdeen Health Foundation.Jack has been Executive Director of the Pictou County Chamber since 2013. To speak with Jack about doing business in Pictou County, or about becoming a member, click here.

President- Blair VanVeld (Twin Rivers Properties & Home Sales)
Blair is the current Chief Financial Officer and Director of Twin Rivers Properties and Home Sales, a residential rental company managing over 1000 units in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Blair holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Majoring in Accounting) from Dalhousie University. He is a current board member of the East Coast Credit Union and previously served as Vice President of the Manufactured Housing Association of Atlantic Canada. Blair is a lifelong resident of Lyon’s Brook, Pictou County.

Murray Hill (Management Consultant)
Murray is semi-retired with a management consultation business, following a career in federal and provincial governments and a private sector industry association. His professional career involved roles with local to national to international in nature. On a volunteer basis, he has headed several local foundations, served as Chair for the former Health Authority, the former Regional Development Authority and the local group who built the Wellness Centre. Working for our community is a passion he continues to pursue. 
 
Tyler MacLane (Crossroads Country Market)
Tyler is the owner and general manager of Crossroads Country Market, a rural general store, bakery and restaurant. Tyler and his wife Kristen moved from Western Canada to rural Pictou County, where Tyler was originally from. They currently reside in MacLellan’s Brook with their two boys, Jake and Levi. Tyler enjoys spending time supporting local events and helping out with youth sports.
 
Trudy Teed (Michelin)
Trudy is the Personnel Manager for the Michelin Tire plant in Granton. She is a professional Industrial Engineer with a diverse background in manufacturing roles. Trudy currently volunteers with the Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital Foundation. In addition, she supports Michelin in the many organizations and programs that it supports, including Special Olympics of Nova Scotia, United Way, and Junior Bike. Trudy lives in Pictou with her husband, Harold, and daughter, Bella.
Bruce Chapman (Northern Pulp)
Bruce is the General Manager of Northern Pulp Nova Scotia Corporation. He joined the Pictou mill operations as a Process Engineer in 1996, held a number of progressively responsible management positions, and was promoted to the position of General Manager in October 2014. As GM, Bruce is responsible for the entire mill, including operations, maintenance, engineering and other services, as well as timberlands operations. Bruce received his BSc, Chemical Engineering degree from the University of New Brunswick and his MSc, Materials Engineering from the University of Illinois. Prior to joining Northern Pulp, Bruce was employed at Stone Container Canada in Processing Engineering, Quality Control.
Rick Gallant (Rick Gallant Wealth Management) 
Rick has been involved in the Wealth Management business in both the UK and Canada for over 25 years. He has held roles as a Sales Manager for a national UK firm, a Tax and Estates Practitioner with a large national UK Bank, as well as a Private Client Stockbroker, licensed and registered on the London Stock Exchange. Rick returned to Canada in 2010 and continued in private practice in Charlottetown, PEI. He relocated to New Glasgow in 2018. Rick has previously been a member of the Chamber of Commerce of Dundee, Scotland as well as the Charlottetown Chamber of Commerce. In 2015 Rick was appointed and served his community as President of the Rotary Club of Charlottetown.
